I've got a Soul on it's way and fancy taping it up before building. Do you helitapers laminate the whole bike or just rub areas, downtube, chainstays?

I was thinking 2m of 100mm should do, does this seem right?

Biketart is your best bet there main web page or there ebay think a 5cm wide by 1.5 meter length is about £6 quid posted and there very quick to. I mostly do rub spots under the down tube and have been known to to the toptube for when im standing waiting around etc.

Bats.

A lad I know from Wales sells it. I've had a few orders off him and they've always been great. Good product, good postage and it's easy to use once you get the hang of things.

Very dissapointed by the biketart stuff, too thin imho, look for the thiscker 3M stuff on ebay.

agree that the biketart stuff is too thin. if you get any air bubbles while applying it and try and peel the tape back to remove it the tape stretches and goes all out of shape which ends in disaster.
the best stuff i've found so far is unfortunately the most expensive which is the 'bikeshield' stuff sold by evans etc. its nice and thick, the easiest to apply and doesn't yellow over time. shame it costs so much.

Cheers for the recommendation Ryan 🙂

HeliTape is a bit thicker than some of the other protective tapes out there, so while it may not be as flexy for complex curves, it's ideal for downtubes, cranks, fork lowers, or just general cable rub patches.

Do you guys just do the underside of the downtube for rock strikes etc? Or do you mean for frames that have cables running on the underside of the dt?

+1 helitape.co.uk - we've had a couple of rolls off Duane now, it's thicker than some of the others and does the job perfectly. Quick delivery too!

worth putting some tape on the inside of the left chainstay, stops the paint getting chipped by the rotor when putting back wheel in 🙂
