Hi all
I bought a second hand stumpjumper during lockdown. Paid a bit over the odds, but expected that.
It's turned out to be a bit of a dog and in hindsight I should've just returned it as not as described.
Having bought wheels forks cassettes and bearings it's finally at the point of being able to ride.
It felt good on its first ride however, the rear axle has pulled out and seems to have stripped the threads in the rear drop out.
Before I lob the whole thing in the sea, anyone know it this can be repaired?? I think the rear triangle is aluminium.
If it can be repaired anyone know anywhere that can do it in or around the Brighton area??
Thanks
Not familiar with that particular frame, but every thru axle frame I've had, the threads are in the replaceable mech hanger or a press fit "nut" in the dropout.
Helicoil could work but there might be an easier option.
Ah, now this sounds positive it's def not built in to the hanger. But it could be a captive nut?? I'll check. Thank you
I'd take it along to Rayments near Preston Circus. They're a decent shop and are Specialized dealers so will be able to get what you need.
What @muggomagic said. Go and see Will and the team at Rayment. a) they're really good. b) they're Specialized dealers.
It threads into the replaceable mech hanger. Will @ Rayments will sort you out. 20 notes or so. Easy to instal yourself.
Another vote for Rayments here. I've taken a few things in for repair and they've always done a good job at a good price.
