Is there any particular brand I should be going for, or is it all much of a muchness?
How much does the panel reckon I’d need to do the high wear areas on a couple of hybrids?

There are different thicknesses. 3M 8671 HS is 360 microns (14 mil). Less would probably do especially for a hybrid, but avoid accidentally getting something barely thicker than sellotape.
