Legion: This rider has an opportunity for a few weekday rides based out of Cleckheaton in the next week or so. Can you recommend a few technical routes to entertain a body?

There's some very good riding to be had in lower Calderdale which is rideable from Cleckheaton. Around Brighouse you have Elland Woods, Cromwell Woods and Rastrick Woods, Magna Via (don't miss the view from Beacon Hill). A little further up the valley are Copley Woods and Norland Moor. All linkable via towpath etc. You would need some local knowledge though and I work weekdays.
When are you here?
Having said that Hebden has more classic rides and techy stuff. Hopefully you will get some advise for Hebden area - if you're lucky!

as an alternative to heading upto hebden, you have leeds bike park, oakwell hall xc blue loop,
mirfield woods just down the greenway

oxenhope aint far either, i do enjoy that route #5 link below, something of everything.
the meltham moor #3 one is also great, although on the top edge of that route plan, take the dirt road up and around deerhill res, and follow the water conduits, passed the gunclub into some mighty fine moorland singletrack, and you drop down on to the wessendon track.

hebden bridge/todmordon, i dont know the names that well, gorple res loop and down above todmorden is great, as are the steep techy descents in the valley just north of the town

locals can advise better, the route on the blazing saddles Local bike shop site is ok

looks like it has crystallised as 8-10th of may I'll be there.

Techy descents in Hebden sounds like just the ticket...
is there a guide book, a local or a GPX that can help me?

If no advice is forthcoming here Blazing Saddles shop in Hebden will point you at the legit stuff but the best descents are cheeky and omerta prevails amongst HB locals. I hope they prove me wrong.

It's possible I'll be riding around Hebden that week. I'm based in Marsden, so might even be able to do a second ride in this area (the route 3 area as linked above).

Except on Strava.

Incidentally, chanced upon this, which is much, much better than Strava segment explore.

Hi Mate

I live in Todmorden and quite familiar with the local routes. Give me a shout if you have any questions 🙂

I did this route last time I went to hebden.

I've no doubt it can be massively improved on, but as a non local it's something I can do without a map nice and easy. Takes in some of the well known descents, blue pig, midgets pit, pecket well (both) and zigzags.

If I'd had a longer day, I would've heard over to the pike as well.
