Hi all
Can I use an EC44 top cup instead of a ZS44 cup? Obvs would mean less spacers on the steerer tube but I’ve got space for the extra height if it’s doable. I’m asking because I would like to use a -2 degree geo changing headset but to get -2 it looks like it needs to be an EC top cup rather than ZS.

I think that’s pretty standard for a slackset on a 44mm headtube- it’s what i did on my Solaris and it’s been fine for years. Unless there are aby obvious clearance issues i can’t see why it would be a problem
Search for the Hope Headset Technical Guide which has all the info you need on the SHIS, its very helpful for headset fitment questions. But short answer yes you should be able to switch ZS for EC assuming the inner and outer dimensions are the same
