I have an old school Santa Cruz Nomad Mk 1 1/8" straight steerer headset which is pressed in from both ends etc. fitted currently with a Hope 'conventional' headset.

I want to buy a Mac Ride and take my son out but need to gain some space up front to get the clamp ring thing in.

Any ideas what headset will actually fit and reduce the height of the stack?
Getting baffled by the billion options to choose from and mines a fairly old bike although still an awesome ride etc. Cane Creek do a bike checker but mine is too old for it.

Help me out a bit and get my son out with me 🙂

What stem do you have? A low stack stem might be an easier option?

Crank bro is the lowest stack headset I’ve ever found.

Stem is an Octane one Pro stem which I have a Renthal FatBar Lite Carbon Riser Bar in https://octane-one.com/chemical-pro-stem-2014/

It says "Low stack" in the specs, it's a 31.8mm bar so think that translates to 36mm stem stack.

Would this work...?

Replace my stem with the DMR Defy35 stem which seems to have a stack height of 27mm https://www.dmrbikes.com/Catalogue/Components/Stems/Defy35

Take out the existing 2mm spacer giving me 11mm extra and place the 10mm Mac Ride clamp in place?
