You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I recently picked up a specialized langster 2011 standard model on the cheap from a mate. Had a few spins and the headset seemed to be making a heck of a grinding noise. So today was the day- stripped everything out and the inside was a mess, gunk, rust - possibly even missing bearings. Now I've tried to out it back together and I'm missing a few more bearings.
My plan is now to get a new headset, I'm not the most technical and have had a look on the usual sites but I'm not quite sure what I'm going to need
Any advice would be great
its an integrated headset
go here http://www.canecreek.com/headset-fit-finder
it will tell you what bearings you need
Cheers bobg I'll get a look at that
You could consider just a new set of bearings, approx £13
Just Google the part number shown Compatibility
Most langsters are loose ball bearing hence the ugly mess the op described
The fun part can be removing the mindset cups that Spesh often fit inside the frame.
But Normaly they can be removed and a normal ( lol ) integrated headset fitted just the bearing size is escaping me at the moment
You may need to add a little spacer under the headset top cap to keep it clear of the head tube
