Ay up people, some help needed please.
I am looking for a new heasdset for my frame but i'm not sure about a couple of things.

Do the spacers that go inside the headtube have to sit on the ridge that is in there? If not whats the point? I have looked in a frame that has the headset still in and the spacers don't reach the ridge, there is probably a 5mm gap, so i'm thinking they dont need to but would like confirmation before i start spending me brass.
I also will require either a reducer spacer or a reducer headset, are there any cons to getting a 1.5" headset (its a 44mm headtube) and putting a reducer in rather than getting a headset that is made for a 1.1/8 steerer? I would prefer the larger headset and reducer combo so i can move up fork steerer size if the oppurtunity arises.

Hope that lot makes sense to someone, reading it back i confused myself. 🙂
Cheers.
