Had a bit of knocking from my Trek and think I have narrowed it down to the bottom bearing of the headset - I might try get a top part too, but after taking it out I can't make out the figures on the side.

So the bottom bearing has TH MR019 1.5 36 x 45 F5 on it and after a search I have found its replacement:

FSA TH073/DJ 1.5" 36 x 45 Headset bearing
Contact Angle: 36°×45°
Height: 7.5mm
ID: 40.0mm
OD: 51.8mm
Type: ACB
Type: Cartridge
Type: MR019

I have found this on CRC, but its TH-073 'E' so not sure if fit is the same - but can get it delivered next day!

Aslo - considering a different make as Cane Creek has been mentioned - but no idea how I would find which Cane Creek I would need - guessing if I went Cane Creek I woyld need a new Crown Race?

Any help/advice as always appreciated!!

Cane creek headset are normally 40-series or 110-series. The 40's are steel and the 110 stainless. Bearings are interchangeable. So providing you have the correct inner and outer diameter, taper on the face and height you're good to go.

Edit: I think I've used sjs in the past for cane creek bearings, but they're fairly standard other places carry them https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/headsets/38-mm-1-inch-pair-cane-creek-bearing-for-40-series-headsets/

Will have a look - might play it safe with the FSA one as dont want to get it wrong! I put my bike in Cane Creek website and it gave me figures but didnt match it up to a headset.

Might buy whole headset if I can figure out which one will fit.

When I put my bike in to Cane Creek Website I get:

IS 41/28.6 Upper
IS 52/40 Lower

So will see what I can find on the website!

Found what I think is the bottom one on CRC:
