I have removed the headset bearings from my Stumpjumper expert carbon 2009 HT.
All internet docs etc.. suggest the bottom cup is 1.5", but mine seems to have a converter to 1 1/8", pic here -

I'd like to remove this and use a 52mm bearing, but it seems to be stuck firm. Before I hit it too hard and damage the frame, has anyone seen this before ? and if so can it be removed ?
You knock it out like any other headset cup however i havn't delt with one before so don't know what you will be left with {bare frame or 1.5 cup underneath} or maybe the 1 1/8th bit is sat inside the 1.5 cup.
That cup will come out as your frame is Ment to take speshes own taper forks
But from memory you will need to get a headset from Spesh as there is more than just a bearing to go
Back in.
no joy, it is either stuck fast or forms part of the integrated headset.
Tapered tube should look tapered
1 1/8 top and 1 1/2 bottom
Adapter available to slieve it down to 1 1/8 part number something like 2009.9060
Think its nentioned in the 2010 stumpy pdf manual
