CRC are selling Joes conversion kits for £20.00 suitable for narrow rims (such as XC717's)... this includes both rim strips and all the gunk etc...

bearing in mind that Stans rim strips are usually £15+ each, this is a pretty good deal.

You can get the same results (better IME) with a 2 x 99p inertubes and a £1.99 roll of electrical tape.

I had terrible results with BMX tubes and tape on my 717s. needed miles of tape before I got any reliability at all, but were still flaky. Lost interest after a while, sure it can be done but I'd already spent more than £20 worth of my time on it.

@ thisisnotaspoon,
What valves are you using?
My cheepo ghetto solution also involves insulation tape and removable valve presta's cut from an old tube-
I have run out of old tubes however...

Thanks, turns out when they mean narrow, they really mean narrow. Too narrow for my wheels. Thanks anyway though 🙂
