Hi all
Striped out my FSA 1/18th headset to give it a service. found it hasn't got sealed bearings. gave it all a clean, greased it up and put all back together.
Defo need to replace the bearings. they are well worn. Will a set of sealed cartridge bearings drop straight in to save buying a new headset.
Seen some on CR but not sure if they will drop straight in
Its only 15 months old
Thanks
Do they run in a separate races or on the headset cups and crown race?
They sit straight in the cup top and bottom. Once they are in there is a split metal seal that drops inside and then a flat seal that that sits in top and is held in place by the cup
A final split seal then drops in on the top only
Thanks
Ditch the whole lot then.
Nothing wrong with loose bearings but you need to look after them to preserve the bearing surfaces. I am guessing the cups are steel too? Probably quite a heavy headset.
