i bought a set of hayes hfx 9 off here the other week and they have been fine apart from the front brake dragging a bit.
i thought it might have been to much fluid in the lever so earlier i took the ca off the reservoir and let a little fluid out.
when i first ut the cap back on the brake felt fine , but as i kept pressing the lever it got spongier and spongier tothe point wer now it comes right back to the bars and does nothing??
have i broke it or can it be fixed??
help as im off to wales on saturday and need a front brake.
it sounds like it just needs bleeding, i'm sure there are tutorials on the web to tell you the best way or failing that the hayes manuals, thats how i bled mine first time round.
just need to get yourself a bleed kit, or google for a diy hfx 9 bleed kit
wot the said, they aren't to hard to bleed at all.
cool link!! will give that a go
cheers
steve
Just be patient with the bleeding and dont forget to squeeze the syringe while pumping the lever to make sure all the air is out.
