Even the BMA are very divided on this not as is said on that link.

BMA policy was always against compulsion until recently when a resolution was put thru on a show of hand against very strong opposition and in dubious circumstances.

The reason the BMA is split is that there are very few serious head injuries, research from all over the world shows no significant decrease in head injury rates with compulsory helmets and instead much reduced cycling with the attendant decrease in the health benefits. Basuically every death from headinjuries you save you have more than one death from heart attacks and strokes

Wiki has a very good article with lots of references

Summary of the BMA debate and links to the debates itself

I have to say, if they ever bring it in here, I shall take pleasure in riding without one.

Yes we have, I'm off cake as well.

I'd love a nice cuppa though.

Anyway I wear a helmet when I feel it is appropriate as do most people and that should be that really..

I can see the protests now if it does take place 😉
