It's a lot, but, and I quote:

Thomson frames are handmade in Titanium, limited edition and feature the latest products and are completed with products from iconic cycling brands

Therefore they are worth £3250 easy.

Their cranks never did appear, did they? I remember a fairly negative reaction to the early pics.

Am I missing something? It looks like a generic circa 2007 Ti frame.

It does have that generic Lynskey product look about it.

Must admit, my first thought was 'it doesn't look very modern'

and that fork looks like an late 90's RST/ suntour product...

Plain looking ti frame with what looks like very poor dropper remote cabling. Which is shocking as they are both Thomson items

21inch seat tube, 69 degree head angle and an 80mm stem. Presumably that money goes towards the operation and maintenance of the Thomson time machine.

Shame when firms do things like this - devalues the cache of their 'proper' components in my opinion.

As you’d expect, the welds are exquisite and details include a 73mm standard screw-in bottom bracket rather than a press-fit number, 12x142mm rear axle, internal cable routing for its Covert dropper post

Winner ,I am in 🙂

Fair bit cheaper in the US.

$2800 Frame and Cockpit Items (bar, stem, headset, collar and dropper post)

Bent tubing in Ti, it's both ugly and wrong.

That's make it about £1800 and includes a few nice build bits. I wonder why such a big price hike for the UK?

£1800 + shipping + import taxes + UK distributors cut to cover wages, insurance, marketing, warranty admin and some profit + VAT. not including the shops profit as that would also be applied to a US purchase.

The £1400 soon gets swallowed up and you also have to account for currency fluctuation if fixing the UK RRP so probably want a $200 buffer there.

Unfortunately after you run the calcs the price is about right 🙁

Don't like the frame myself so I'm 'oot.

Except the start point for your calculation surely should not be the Retail price in the states should it?

Perhaps to cover the price of returning it to Lynsky when it inevitably cracks somewhere?

Not one single photograph exists on the internet of this thing looking half decent. Not one. It's almost as though it's an ugly bike which has to be photographed in the dark.

Yeah I did think that after but fell asleep. Import value will be trade but I guess that will be lynkseys price, + Thomsons mark up + shipping, insurance and import + markup for importer to cover admin, wages, marketing and profit + shops mark up. Add on extras for warranty and currency change allowance.

You end up with a hyped up brand that likes to charge a premium (unsubstantiated in my opinion) and a lot of people needing to take their cut before it gets to the customer magnifying the effects of a high start price and what will be a low volume product.

Wait for CRC to sell em off cheap!

Its abit insulting to their customers. Even though most of the customers wont buy its a bit of a PR own-goal. I like Thomson kit and no doubt some people will buy the frame but it'll feel abit negative for the rest. As though 'Thomson can't do frames/they tried it once and it failed'.

Better not to try at all than to go half-arsed into the market.

They struggle to make seatposts that fit and stems that don't crack. Not sure I'd trust them with a frame.

It's ok they've contracted the work out Lynskey

Oh.

Apart from the 80mm stem, it looks about right, stick a 100m stem on it and you'd have a sorted XC/Trail bike (from the days before enduro ruined everything).

and that fork looks like an late 90's RST/ suntour product...
MRP, who I think bought out White Brothers?

I quite like it, apart from the price and that it's made by Lynskey.
