Just run across the Enviolo belt drive CVT fitted on on e-bikes.
Never seen or heard of this before but often wondered why it had not been developed for bikes.
Too expensive to be mainstream but looks as though it might give Rohloff a bit of competition albeit more geared towards the e-bike top end market for models that cost more than a 'reasonably priced car.'

For the same reason that Rohloff etc are a niche thing. More expensive than deraillers and less efficient. Low-end bikes won't use them because of the cost, racers won't use them because of the drivetrain drag. Leaves them as a niche thing for people with money who aren't worried about losing a few percent efficiency.
stepless auto shifting is a brilliant idea for E-cargo bikes. Would maximise range too, keeping the cadence at the sweet spot.
They have it on the new Tern GSD. Would imagine more will too soon.
As with forks there’s always a better mousetrap just around the corner, but how come the only things that work in my shed involves a big spring and a bit of cheese?!

My forks have a big Spring and a bit of oil 😉
Don't know about Fox, I think Rockshox stopped making stuff out of cheese when they moved production to Taiwan.
