washer covered in chunks of rubber?

Fox seal kit 803-00-142

Packet of replacement seals for Fox rear shock (803-00-142)

The plastic washers/spacers appear to be covered in bits of black rubber.

Is that a sign that the seals in the packet have been squished and squeezed so much in storage/transit that chunks have come off the seals

Rendering the seals useless?

I don't want to open the packet to check as I have just received these in the post and if they are damaged will send them back to the seller

Seems improbable, more like that there was bits of rubber floating around the plastic washer factory which clung via static and ended up in the bag. If the seals were that buggered you'd be able to see with a magnifying glass I reckon.

Open the bag - if they turn out to be damaged then the seller has to refund you anyway cos the goods are faulty. Video the opening including the bits of rubber for verification.

Completely normal.

Look at any images for the service kit and they're the same, in fact on the official fox service video they have the black bits.

Totally normal, the split back up rings are are white with dark flecks, they are all like that.

The back up rings that go in the air can are solid white.

Have you considered an eye test?

When you examine these it's really not hard to see that they're part of the material of the ring.
