Hi All,

When bleeding my XOs I removed the bleed block and then forgot to put it back. This resulted in the outboard piston fully extending and looking like it was about to fall out with an accompanying dropping off loads of fluid out of the caliper.

So I pushed the piston back in and re-bled the brake and it seems okay. But I am worried that the fluid might attack the caliper seals or that I might have damaged the piston. I am off to the Lakes next week and would hate it fail halfway down.

Cheers for the help.

Should be fine! Seals stop the fluid getting out so they wont be damaged by it.

And I doubt it damaged the piston unless you were gouging at it with tools.

As above, shouldn't be a problem - just make sure you clean it all up well, to avoid contamination on the pads or rotor

Been there, done that (with old Deores)
Still in use years later and as above the seals sit in the fluid....the pads and disc less so...

Might be worth giving them a workout on the flat e.g. some hard stops then check over again
