Can a long cage 10 speed xt mech handle a 50t cassette? Ive ordered the cassette assuming it can but now having second thoughts.
That's what i have and it is fine. It just needs a bit of time setting it up.
It'll have the range but I think they pivot around around the top jockey so it won't shift very well. Might be better with a goat link (of chinese copy). An 11 speed mech is better on a big cassette.
i have one working without any mods and it works fine.
Does this mean that for Shimano mtb, 10, 11 & 12 speed rear mechs all have the same cable pull ratio?
If so, so long as you match the shifter and cassette, then the rear mech and largest sprocket size, you're golden?
I know for sure that the '11 speed XT mech' works well with 10 speed shifter/cassette.
That's what i used to run to get the 46t bigger cog on the 10 speed cassette.
My experience with this back in the day with range extenders was that a 10-speed mech will work, but it puts the parallelogram pivots under a lot of stress and they fail early.
Thanks everyone. Appreciate your inputs.
