My old freeride's we're getting a bit thin on the bottom so ordered some in the Black Friday sales.
Previous ones were five ten branded - new ones are Adidas.
Finally relented and retired the previous ones today.
The soles seems stiffer and less tacky than my previous ones.
Have Adidas changed the compound of the sole?

Different versions of the shoes have different compounds. Which did you buy?

There are various versions of Stealth… which two pairs of shoes are you comparing?

Also, it’s chuffing cold out today.

The Stealth C4 on their climbing shoes has been changed, not for the better in this case.

Would not surprise me if the material changes were across other ranges as well given the Adidas ownership.

Right ones are 2019 and left are 2020 AFAIK.

I don’t think they changed the compound that year on the same model. Although I have found my newer pair of Freeriders took a ride or 2 to ‘break in’ but then I was comparing them to 1st & 2nd gen Impacts and 2nd gen Sam Hills which were probably softer to start with.

It could be that you’re riding in colder weather than the old ones, or just that you’ve gotten used to how worn the sole and insoles are on your old pair.

I've got old and new Freeriders in use just now and they feel the same to me. IIRC the new ones felt slippier and also short of feedback for a while when I got them, I think they bedded in over time. (I wouldn't necessarily have noticed this when I got the old ones, because they were replacing crap shoes)

Those two should be the same. The new PrimeBlue ones are different IIRC.

New and cold is probably all you’re feeling different to your last ride on your worn in pair.
