Hello, fellow bike friends!

Just wanted to share and maybe inspirer some of you bike-adventurers out there with my last mountain bike experience. A classic ski- or hike route from Chamonix to Zermatt in the Alps. (mostly- Switserland.) That we decided to do on our bikes.

Please watch and enjoy the awesome film that Jonas M made from our trip.

Nice one!

Looks like what you did was based around what I know as the Walker's Haute route?

We did a route based around it a few years back but missed out the section between Verbier and Arolla and the final section to Zermatt along the Europaweg. If you did these bits how did you find them?

I thought the descents from the Meidpass and Augstbordpass were the highlights.

@spin
All of the descents was pretty good! best being day 3, 4 and 5.
Day to was brutal. lots of bike carrying through big rock sections.

I've done it on touring skis, it was the most exhausting few days of my life, especially as there was no water for hygiene in the huts in winter (all frozen) and I suffered gradually worsening diarrhoea. Reaching Zermatt was fantastic, we sat down in a restaurant and ate massive cheese omelettes with steak and chips.

The ski route is very different from the walker's / MTB route.

@Spin: The part from Verbier to Lac de Dix was probably the slowest part I have done on a mountain bike... Rocks, rock, rock all the way. Col de Riedmatten was a special experience.

You did not loose a lot of good riding, but Riedmatten was very special.

The last day was kind of a bonusday. We took the road in to Zermatt and gravelroad up to Blauherd. The Decent down Europaweg to tasch was one of the best decents on the whole trip.

Apart from that we, like you, thought Meidpass og Augstbordpass was the best.

Cheers andreoha.

Nice to know I didn't miss out on much! We were pretty much winging it as I couldn't find any info on biking it back in 2013 when we did it.

This video is outstanding. Captures lots of different terrain, sums up the mountain hike-a-biking experience and the descents very well. Thanks.

Amazing, inspiring video, the drone footage was great but I really liked the slow close ups of grass blowing in the mind or the cobweb you closed with.

I’m gonna have to get me to the Alps!

OP thanks for the route link (do you have any other good stuff on there ?). I have to confess I’d be on the lift in Chamonix and the bus/bubble up to Verbier too, then the train to Zermatt 😳

Two of us live near Oslo, and one lives in Sunnmøre.

We have some other vids also. One from The Colorado Trail (awesome) and another one from the Alps. GR5 from Geneva to Nice.

Hi Kobb

We did a similar ride 3 years ago. Aigle to Chamonix, the. South section of TMB then Haute Route to Zermatt. Was fantastic.

I have info and GPX of the route if anyone needs it.

Did you ride the Bise de Saxon? That was good.

C
