A cheap jump bike is available near me. It's a 2009 Specialized P1.
Has geometry changed much over the last few years in the same way it has for other mountain bikes?
A little but not much. Remember the Los is not a requirement for jump bikes.
Los?
Assume they meant LLS long low slack
The scooter kids have made things steeper, not slacker.
Not really. I think the newer ones are/will be 27.5 due to certain brands not making 26 forks anymore but DJ and free ride bikes are pretty much the same.
I had a P1 for a while and found it too small and very twitchy. It was basically a BMX where your chin is way over the front axle. This was the old steel one with a rigid fork, not sure if they're all the same. Nice fast bike though for that kind of riding.
To answer your question, no it hasn't. Transition have a new XL PBJ which I wanted to try but when I was looking for an insurance replacement I went L again in case it was too unwieldy. A large PBJ still has a longer reach than anything else I could find when I first built it but it's still an adjustment when I jump on after riding the big, bouncy gnarpoon.
Thanks for the tips. Think I'll give the P1 a miss. I never got on with BMX for those exact reasonsn
This is a good place to look for DJ bikes... https://www.pinkbike.com/buysell/list/?category=3
