You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Heya,
There is a Zipcar bay right by our flat. Thinking as we don't own a car it would be a cheap way to have a day out somewhere 1-2hrs away from London with the bikes.
Is it expensive for a day? How anal are they with mud and stuff? I'd obviously make every attempt to return it in the condition that I found it, but sometimes mud does get places.
Any insight appreciated.
I see it as more of a run around service than for days out, I don't think the day rate is much cheaper than a regular hire car.
The cars are charged by the hour, if over 8 hours then the day rate is cheaper. Running costs, congestion charge and dartford crossing are included apart from insurance excess which you can buy a waiver for, 60 miles included per 24 hours then 25p per mile afterwards. If you go on the website and click on "find cars" you will be able to see the costs for yourself. There are various membership rates, I pay £6 per month and get the same back in driving credit.
I shift dirty stuff in the cars but always use plastic or a dust sheet, other people don't seem to bother and many don't even take their general rubbish away either. Different people, different standards, I guess, they think that they've paid for the car, the valet will just pop round as soon as they have parked up or just don't generally give a shit about such things.
Obviously there are penalty charges if someone did report you for a dirty car or leaving it with low fuel.
Thanks - that's interesting what you say about the price over the day, but I guess that makes a lot of sense.
I'll check out the site and see what the deal is. Thanks!
