Bike was at -2 over night, ride was -1 or so, first down hill (all zipties secure btw) and it snapped off at one of the sides and got eaten by the back wheel!

Err, no. IIRC it was -6C on Sundays ride and it's been ridden in lower temperatures than that.
I've had one snap in the cold.
Although, I suspect that the air temperature was less of a factor than the crash I'd just had.
No, & I'm happy ride in the colder conditions (ground hardens up nicely) that sounds quite a failure though

I’ve had some really really shit cable ties repeatedly snap. And lost a Mudhugger because of cable ties snapping.
I’ve had one snap but tbf I was smashing through a rough trail and I think it just vibrated it to death !

I think probably it's just coincidence? Polypropylene usually has its glass transition around -20, so you shouldn't really see any embrittlement except in record cold temps. Mixed materials vary but I'd be surprised if it's far from a basic polypropylene
OTOH it's easy to damage PP with heat- I had to warm one of mine up to fit the fatbike, I got a bit carried away and damaged the plastic and it cracked shortly after. Again, wouldn't happen in normal temps though.
Not a Mudhugger but the Mucky Nutz equivalent for the front, yes. They replaced it too as it was quite new. It was at Glentress in sub-zero temps. Not -20 though.
