I keep umming and aahing over swapping my Monarch for a CCDB IL coil or air or..., but all of these options are expensive and add weight, so if there is a worthwhile upgrade to my current shock it would probably be my best option. So has anyone had the tractive tune? Was it worth it?
Not yet, but my Monarch Plus will be in need of a service soon so will be having this done, will try to remember to report back! I got it as a warranty replacement for a standard Monarch as RS don't produce the normal Monarch in 216x63 anymore and the Plus is the wrong tune, so it's always felt a bit harsh. Will try the Tractive tune and see how it goes!
Sounds good, I am not in a big rush, so hopefully you will have done it first. It is only £120 over the service cost.
Had mine done a while back.
Spesh Enduro 29er 2017 model.
I'm 14st plus kit, the standard shock tune was ok but never great.
It would bottom out on landings and hold up on square edges, it generally lacked a mid range.
Got the Tratcive jobbie done and I'm happy.
The bottom outs are eradicated or at least not noticeable.
Support throughout the stroke is good, I can now push the rear into corners and it pushes back, feed back is good too.
Overall it stopped me thinking about a big spend, in combination with bunging a Luftkappe in the Lyric with a Fast damper it has lifted the suspension properties of the bike to a point where I'm happy to keep it for another year.
Sounds good, mine is due a service anyway, so not that much to pay on top!
As an alternative viewpoint, I have become a huge fan of my CC DB IL Coil on my Jeffsy. Yes it adds a bit of weight but with a VALT spring really not that much and it's so much nicer. Have now added the remote for the climb switch (that I never used before) and that's really quite effective. Not a lock out, but firms up the compression quite nicely whilst keeping the coil feel.
Yup I had mine done a short while ago. I’m very pleased with the results so far.
I was going to get an cc inline too but now glad I didn’t.
I think you'll like it Bagstard, if so you can thank me for my sound feedback.
If not, I blame that Carl for making you do it!
I was toying with a coil but the Enduro is a tough one to get right, even with the Ohlins, so the Tractive was a good option for me.
I'd be interested in how you find it.
I've taken a different route and bought a cheap CCDB air as an experiment, but I'm keeping the Monarch in case it doesn't work out.
