Season's greetings one and all!

Quite fancy putting some knobblies on my Grade and getting it muddy. Evans have a CX Sportive in Newbury next month which looks interesting. Two route length options up to 38 miles, with a roughly 50/50 split between on and off road. Suspect the pain will be very weather dependent, but has anyone done one before and can report back positively?!

Cheers

Have done their MTB ones before and generally very well organised, decent routes (of course depends on the location / terrain, as they can only generally use ROW's unless they have landowner permission), well marked although with modern GPS you can also get the route preloaded - certainly a nice way to see a new area.

Done mtb and cyclocross ride it events. All have been very well organised.

Thanks. I'm guessing 38 miles of mixed terrain might be similar to 60ish of road riding?

Depends, how much climbing is there and what is the surface like off road? If it's fire roads then you can cycle them fairly easily.

It's less about the greater effort than on road but more the slower pace and longer time in the bike

Depends, but not a bad estimate generally.
