Hi,

On a 2015 170 fork with LSC fully closed (+) I won't get any arm pump but if opened I will. Logic is telling me this should be the other way around so fast long fire road (type) surfaces would be smoothed out but they're not. No issues with technical natural trails. Does this sound right?

They've just been serviced. Is there anything I should be looking at?

Cheers,

I'm no expert but I think it's the HSC you want to work on for harshness, maybe closing the LSC port has some affect on that. Also look at your rebound, is it recovering fast enough?

Hi, rebound is ok using Fox settings and HSC works on bigger drops\jumps. Its the chatter\vibrations I get when opening the LSC which is confusing me.

Iv had 3 sets of fox 36 RC3 forks and can say categorically those compression nobs don't do anything.

OK they do - if you take the damper out and cycle it you can feel an increase in firmness with the low speed nob. But once its in the fork the spring overpowers everything and I cant tell any difference whatsoever between max and min settings either on or off the bike.

This could of course be down to me being completely insensitive to subtle changes in performance....or perhaps its marketing BS. Who knows

When I spoke to Mojo they advised never to run any HSC to avoid arm pump and to modify spring rate through tokens/oil if you are bottoming out. This was said to be their advice to all Fox racers.

The fork stiffens when going from open to closed, the guy from TFT also mentioned modifying the spring rate.

When you say not run hsc is that fully open (anti clockwise) or fully closed (clockwise) I'm tempted to fit a couple of tokens and start from the open end and try again.

No HSC = fully open. Also consider if you are packing the forks down and therefore settling too deep into the travel. This may cause a harsh ride.

HSC also relates to spikey impacts like braking bumps, rock gardens etc. Any moment the damper is being forced to move at a high speed

Thanks I'm going to look at the HSC side of things now. I thought the LSC could handle most of the harshness of the trail chatter rather than having to use the HSC but guess not?

I've seen another post by rick d saying pretty much the same thing.

Cheers,

Thanks for the advice on this. Hsc now fully open and the fork feels a lot better. Why are the stock settings so far out?

Just shy of 80kg and I'm now running 2 blue spacers, 60 psi, 10 clicks rebound and 13 clicks of Lsc.

Cheers

I don't know if it's really any use but you might find these settings of interest. I had a bit of a read around on what was recommended when I got my RC2. The one thing I'd say is having TF Push tune them improved the HSC in my opinion.

Here's the setting I could find online:

All settings are clicks out from fully closed and for an 80kg rider
