Harry Main - phenomenal park BMX rider, has been putting up some MTB stuff on his youtube channel recently - This one at Farmer Johns in Marple is pretty good. Cool to see someone amazing at another discipline try something new - not bad for a first go at a drop off.

[some NSFW swearing]

I've been watching these videos with enjoyment. Love his enthusiasm for MTB, I'm feeding off of his stoke - as the kids used to say.

Have you seen Nyquist riding Whistler?

I have mixed feelings about Harry Main. Fair play to him for giving this a bash, but he seems to be living off the same tricks in BMX (not saying I can flair etc 😆 ) and pushing his garbage bikes.

He doesn't ride comps anymore so I guess he doesn't have the same pressure for progression as others.

As for his 'garbage' bikes, really? They seem fine to me. He rides them himself and also did a video where he cuts them up to show wall thickness etc.
He's just a business person at the end of the day.
Sound bloke I think.

I enjoyed that, he's obviously got a lot of transferrable skills, but he only bricks it like the rest of us and does it anyway. Most pro vids they're portayed as fearless.

Despite all the swearing I love that video!

Someone who is happy riding and gets excited. Seems a lot of people are too cool for that sort of thing nowadays, but that video makes me want to try it, so job well done!!

Amazing rider who is just playing the bullshit media game. His channel is his main marketing tool. Not too keen on his videos tbh but I am not his target market.

at least it's better than a video of him driving his nissan gt-r around warrington with some instagram attention seeker in the passenger seat.

Harrymania 2 is still some of the best riding I've ever seen. It makes me sad that 3 is never looking likely

Sail a 25 footer on your second session - Yes Lad.

It's as much him getting accustomed to a different type of bike as anything. Getting comfortable with how it handles.

Nice to see someone skilled get enthused about MTB, though video progression to a crash/injury was quicker than Dave Jenvey 😀

One thing he was spot on about was just letting the bike do the work, nearly every crash i've seen off drop offs etc is when someone tries to yank the front of the bike up and it just does the opposite and pitches straight down

Seeing how he started off going completely full on, it was never going to be more than a few vids before he stacked it.

Impressive balls for sure though.

In his case maybe someone had said you need to spring off the end of the drop, and of course his idea of a bunnyhop is a bit bigger than the average MTBer's.

Did anyone post this yet?

Just watched the 'my first ride' vid linked to from the one in the OP, where he's at Grizedale red.

On a fire road climb:

"How long have we been out?"
"15 mins"
"I'm ****ed!"

Then finishing covered in mud, laughing at his mate's crash and grinning - how everyone's first ride should be 🙂

Ah my local skatepark in that vid. Almost didn't recognise it without the 100's of sulky teens sitting on the decks.
Incidentally, he was banned from the local BMX trails after one visit.

His enthusiasm cant be faulted, his clickbait youtube channel less so. Still, that's the business, and i'm sure the 10s of grands a month is more than enough justification.

I like the way after landing a trick he's always got a smile on his face he always looks like he's enjoying himself. The stuff he can do on those mini bmx is crazy it's hard enough just to ride one in a straight line

I think they are brilliant videos. I'm sh#tting myself on his behalf and we can all relate to that rush you get when you push yourself and survive unscathed, size of drop etc is irrelevant

I suspect he may have also been the first person to run 200psi in a 36.

It's kinda weird to watch his riding, he obviously has amazing trick and jumping skills from BMX and is clearing jumps plenty of mountain bikers (myself included) would not even consider, yet rides the trails (rocks, roots, mud) like a total noob. No disrespect as he is clearly new to the sport. It's just the odd mix of skills/no skills in the different aspects, unlike most riders who start from scratch in all areas and develop accordingly.

I think some of his sketchiness on the rocks and mud may be down to having the tyres rock hard and the suspension set-up a bit squiff.

agree with mark90, i think he puts on some of his fear of big stuff of the youtube chanel as its nothing he hasn't done on a bmx but the minute he hits mud, roots rocks he is genuinely all over the shop. its heartening. He's good a swearing too, not everyone can do that, i like it.

drew bezanson has also tried this journey too from amazing bmx rider to mtb. Albeit at crankworx. Seemed to face pretty genuine struggles with bigger wheels and bigger jumps

I've recently started mountain biking after years of bmx and am always surprised how awful most experienced mountain bikers are at jumping!

It's not really surprising though is it as your avarage trail rider has to deal with rocks, roots and mud a lot more than getting big air.
Fair play to how he's adapting to MTBing and his enthusiasm to it is just brilliant. His honesty about shitting it is also nice to see.
I really wouldnt be surprised to see him a crankworks sooner rather than later.
He's got the big tricks already there, just need to adapt that the bigger wheels.

Harry rides at Revs.
Fair play to him. It's pretty stout there if you're used to skateparks. 😀
His Gopro angle needs work but it's an enjoyable watch all the same.

It's rather sweary if that bothers you.

Being a BMX cross over I agree with what Harry was saying in that video re the speed you can get on MTB's, so much faster than BMX!

I watched someone (random) flip the big 50:01 step up on a Dh bike.....during storm Ophelia/Brian!!(the bottom jumps were all closed as it was too windy).Bar me, there was'nt anyone else about.
Pretty much the most mental thing I've seen done on a bike....next to Jace Rennie jumping 117ft on a frozen fire road and Hucker opposite airing about 20ft at Redbull quartermaster.

He (co)owns Mafia (bmx),Rocker (POS) and Cry (horrific looking yoof wear). The Youtoob stuff is just advertising to the kids who buy his stuff.
He may come across as an overly loud, ADHD scouser with too much money, little taste and a god given talent for riding bicycles......and to be fair that's not far wrong but it has'nt stop him being a really nice bloke when I've chatted to him.

I should dislike him, northern with visible tattoos, but his channel is excellent. I'm probably not target audience being late 40's and no interest in BMX since I was 16, but the MTB stuff is brilliant.

It wasn’t a knock down at the bloke, just it’s getting too full on sub this sub that and tired of coming across youtubers believing they’re entitled...

There are worse tbf! I should perhaps step away from youtube I guess 😛

I'm with oldtalent on this. I'm new to his channel, but already a big fan of his mtb riding. Not so keen on his shot blasting/general hooliganising of decent bits of kit - but his enthusiasm and attitude to learning how to ride trails/parks is infectious! And now he's (unofficially?) teamed up with Matt Jones, bring me more!
Incidentally, Matt Jones video if the day out at Revs is better than Harry's....

Oldtalent +1

The Youtoob stuff is just advertising to the kids who buy his stuff.

And probably generates a couple hundred quid a day of advert revenue based on the number of view he gets.

That jump on 50:01 at Revs (the moon booter) is 30ft take off to the top of the transition, properly mental backflipping that.
