I might be going to live in Harrogate on a temporary basis [near Asda]. Now, where I live at the moment I am very lucky to be able to ride straight from my door on some great trails and I wondered what was within riding distance of the centre of Harrogate or, am I going to need to drive to get anywhere good to ride?

I cant speak for Harrogate itself, but Nidderdale is close by and it has some great riding.
