I have a few 26er bits kicking around and want to make use of them. Can anyone suggest a relatively modern frame that fits the following:

135mm QR rear
HT2 compatible BB
Longish reach
67 degree or so head angle
Tapered headtube
Suitable for 120-140mm forks

I was looking at the new BFe 26 but that is 12x142 rear.

Thanks,

I was gonna say 456 Evo, but apparently that's not available any more. Bummer.

Recommend what you own.
You can get QR dropouts for the Pace RC127, they had a black friday thing on yellow frames, might still be running.
Think it fits all the criteria, 27.5 though, I was going to run it with 26" but ended up getting a set of wheels fairly cheaply.

456evo with decent 140/50mm forks would be my pick, such a good ride. See if you can get one secondhand? Always lots on eBay.

Maybe have a look at this - I suspect it will be compatible, but the info on the Dartmoor site is very thorough, so you should be able to tell.

If you want cheap and cheerful look at the brand x hardtail frame on CRC. 135mm qr, 120mm-130mm+, runs 27.5 but reading the reviews lots run it 26", 68°, takes hollowtech. Not the coolest brand but great value at £75 in the sale just now. Nearly finished building one myself.

If you want something very lovely that rides well, I can't say enough good things about the new Stanton Slackline. 142 is standard, but the interchnagebale drop outs can be swapped.

Too small for me I think. Reach needs to be about 440mm

I’ve also seen the orange clockwork 120, has anyone ridden one? Can I fit 26 inch wheels to it?

The new BFe26 might be 142x12 though, they're out of stock at the minute with new ones coming in in the spring according to the website.

Mine should be getting delivered today hopefully 🙂

I was going to build it as a budget 26" but I'm getting carried away, it's now a budget 27.5" using none of my parts from the bike I was going to cannibalise 🙄

Just need to find a fork.

Any pics of yours?

As Pete says above, 26 Bfe still runs old QR at rear.

Have built one up this year, which is obviously why I think it would fit the bill. Have not checked any specs but they are nice looking, which is very important...

New bfe 26 will be 142x12 apparently, ah well.

Ok, looking at a clockwork orange 120 and running with 26er wheels. The bb height is 301 with 650b wheel, would it be about 285 with 26? Would that ride ok?

301mm is pretty low, I had one and it did create the odd crank strike, I don't think I'd go to 285mm without shortening the cranks.

Is that definite? Like from the horse's mouth definite?

Thing is, if you want 26 and QR there's a basically limitless number of used bikes out there, why worry about new ones? Go get an older Soul or BFe or a Ragley Ti or something else cheap and spectacularly good.

True, but not as easy to find as you think. I have a WTB for a Large mk3 soul frame as that sounds interesting.
