My wife's giant xtc3 was stolen and we can get a replacement through the insurance, or other bike for the same cost. Looking for ideas on what to look at - she liked the giant but found it very weighty, got it as an ex-rental from GT 7 or so years back and it weighed a ton. Anyone know how the current xtc3 shapes up - good all rounder, not too heavy?

She got into MTBing to the level of doing GT black, but then completely stopped to have kids. So at first the bike would be for real casual stuff, but with the aim of getting back onto the trails in time.

xtc frames arnt heavy, i got an old one from way back and its lighter than any steel frame i ever had, most likley just the components heavy
likley suspects are seatpost and saddle and wheels.
no idea about new xtc but giant stuff is usually prety decent for the money.

almost forgot, the xtc's that i've riden are fairly harsh riding, do anything including races though
