I bought a canyon al 29 8.9 earlier on in the year and can't recomend it enough. its a great bike, much faster than my old 26 wheel hardtail. A good spec as well - there is even a 7.9 version out now for around a grand.

What type of 29er? xc, trail, am etc? Geared, ss?

As 26ers, they're not all the same 🙂

Love to hear more about the Canyon. How comfy is it? I guess it's quite a racy bike.

Cheers
Simon

Just over budget but what about cube reaction pro 29er ? Full carbon frame and good spec. Only reason i never went for canyon was i wanted carbon frame.

I would rather have better spec components and ali/steel frame rather than carbon and cheaper components

Really, so what bikes have better components at the same price? Let alone a CF frame.

I've just got a Canyon 29er. Coming from a nice slack 456, it feels VERY low and racy up front which is taking a bit of getting used to. It's also scary fast, probably due to low front and fast rolling tyres.

Size wise, I'm 6'2" and got a medium after using the online fitter thingy. I expected to end up on a large, looks like med was recommended due to my badly designed short-legged (~85cm) body.

Have to say, so far it's fantastic. Oh, and once built delivery was quick too.

eI'm 5'10" and have a medium canyon - I have around 15-20cm of seatpost showing at a guess.
As for comfort, its one of the 'softest' riding Ali frames I've risen, prob due to the thin 'flex' seat stays - having said that its also the most lateraly stiff bike I've ever ridden due to the bolt through rear wheel, tapered head tube and 15mm fork - the bike pings when you drop it!
I'm on my phone at the moment so can't post links, bit there have been issues with the ST Swiss forks by myself and others on ARE, if you do a search I'm sure you'll find a few threads. Suffice to say, I'm sure that canyon & st swiss have it sorted by now and all those that have had warrenty issues have had them sorted. Even with the warrenty issue I'd still buy from canyon again and recomend them to others.
Anyway, here's a couple of links to images to mine....

I've just put a ks eten dropper post on it....
