I was going to get an On One Dee Dar on my bike to work scheme, but discovered today that On One stopped doing bike to work about 3 weeks ago!
So...
Please suggest alternatives for me - £1000. hard tail, doesn't need to be steel, biggish fork, available on bike to work.
Many thanks in advance.
Chain Reaction do C2W, so I'd imagine Wiggle will too. Vitus Sentiers always score well in the MBR hardtail tests, but not sure if they do one that's gnarr enough for your purposes. Same for Evans and Norco bikes, etc.
San Quentin 2?

I've had a couple of enjoyable demo rides on the Sonder Transmitter which starts at around 900 notes IIRC.
Lots of fun. The only thing which stops me properly lusting after one is that they're 650b+ only which I suspect isn't so good once it gets muddy.
Bird do C2W
You won’t get a Bird for £1k though I wouldn’t think. Too many nice branded parts even on the base build to get that low.
0% credit card and buy a dee dar for 799?
Sunset Bikes have an Orange Crush S at £1079 in all sizes. 150/ 27.5/ long ETT. They do C2W, i’m not sure if you’re aloud sale bikes or not these days, some seem to.
Thanks so far.
the least expensive Dee Dar now appears to be £1100
Thanks for the Bird pointer (I may be able to put some more money in the pot) and I'll drop into Evans to see what they ca do later today.
any other thoughts?
Just reserved a Specialized Chisel Comp on my cycle 2 work scheme. Tredz have the 2018 model at 1k which my local shop were happy to match.
Best value is the Boardman which has Reba forks and XT components. Not very hard core though... although the chisel is more xc
Next years saracen mantra trail, but jan/Feb at the earliest
The Sonder Transmitter is brilliant for the price. It's awful in mud on lightly-treaded 2.8s like WTB Rangers and similar, but stick something like a Minion DHF / Rekon combo in 2.8 and it's acceptable in softer stuff. Or go 2.6 for a bit more bite.
They do test rides from the Alpkit shops - Hathersage and Ambleside - or you can get one sent out and the rental price is deducted if you buy one.
I've been riding one for the last couple of years now and even with just a 120mm fork up front, it's properly quick and capable with loads of cush and traction.
Bikeradar seem to like the boardman.
