It's World Bicycle Day today apparently - https://www.un.org/en/observances/bicycle-day
although there doesn't seem to be much exposure here in the UK. Get out and celebrate!
Obligatory bump!
Harrumph! I drive a car, where's my special day? Road tax etc...
But, yes, bikes rock 🤘
I only found out about it yesterday after I got a message from the Department of BEIS' instagram account asked if I minded them sharing one of my photos for World Bicycle Day.
Random way of finding out.
A missed opportunity? British Cycling get on board with any kind of promotion for example?
Must admit I totally missed it apart from a couple of posts on Insta
A missed opportunity?
Very much so, especially with the Covid boom in cycling and calls for better cycling infrastructure. I'd have thought that British Cycling and Sustrans would have made something of it.

I was wondering if they did but I just missed it...sounds like that's not the case
Ha I saw something about this last night on social media. Passed me by, and the grumpy dog Walker who was apoplectic that I had slowly ridden past him on a wide gravel foot path where he was taking his two dogs off their lead for a shit yesterday evening.
At least the other 10-15 people I passed were polite humans. And the elderly couple who I stopped to the side to let them pass said thanks.
He didn’t need to pick his dog’s turds up though as the dog seemed to enjoy eating it fresh. I bet that’s nice when he licks his owner in the face later.
Anyway. Happy bike day one and all. Every day is bike day.
