I currently have a Hans Dampf, Apex casing, Addix Speed on the rear, I'm happy with it but have had a 2 cuts in the sidewall now so am looking for the same in Super Gravity, but all I can see is the Addix soft? Anyone know if the tyre I'm looking for exists?

Don 't think so, but the "soft" isn't particularly soft and rolls very well.

Nope. See the different options here: https://www.schwalbe.com/en/mtb-reader/hans-dampf

I've run into this before with Magic Marys. If you want SG carcass you have to have soft, which is annoying (for a rear tyre, at least).

It’s a conspiracy! You can either have a casing that’s durable or tread that’s durable but not both - Maxxis do the same on pretty much every model. WTB seem to be a rare exception…

Specialized Blk Dmnd tyres with the Gription were another exception - had a pretty hard compound that lasts very well (but relies on the tread pattern for grip).

They've changed to a new line-up of compounds now, but I'm sure they still have some made of melted-down wheelie bins.

I had one in Addix soft. A very impressive tyre, rolled quite well, but did wear faster than a tyre with bigger knobs.

“They’ve changed to a new line-up of compounds now, but I’m sure they still have some made of melted-down wheelie bins.”

Specialized used to make a big deal about testing their tyres lots in the UK because of our challenging weather, back when the Storm was a popular mud tyre. That’s clearly ended because all the reviews of the new T7, T9 etc tyres say things like “they’re great, except in the wet…”
