Anyone got the HD on a Flow rim that maybe they could throw a vernier across? Really not sure if I'll get it in my HT frame or not.

Yep, I get the same as Sam ^.

I fitted a pair this afternoon and my first impression was that they look comfortably wide. A similar sort of width to a 2.2 Rubber Queen, but not as tall.
There's plenty of clearance on my Soul.
HTH

Cheers guys. Not as wide as I was expecting. Think I might get away with it.

I'd heard the German shops were the place to go.

Looking at these for my Soul come Alps time, but can't seem to decide the difference between the dampf and the Albert, apart from the latter has DD? Or if to mix and match

bike-discount.de have them for 65 euro a pair, one trailstar, one pacestar.

not anymore honourablegeorge... went to buy another set of those today as i like them so much. They've sold out of the pacestars so the pair isn't available. only the trailstars on their own.
My rear pacestar got a bit torn up over a few days of alpine DH but was so impressed i wanted to buy more!

And next day tyres £23 version are the cheapest non tubeless ready versions and i'm not sure what compound those use either?

@scamper - I've been running Fat Alberts for the last few months, cannot say I'm in love with them. Seems something not quite right when on twisty trails. They do seem better in the drier the conditions. It was a choice between HD and FAs, I'm tempted to try the HDs. I have HRs dual plys as my indestructable Alps tyre which have served me well.

Just a slight hijack, any thoughts on which is better: HD trailstar front/pacestar rear or HD trailstar front/RQ 2.2 BC rear? Wanting something fairly tough and grippy but need to pedal uphill as well (hopefully dry trails but some rocky stuff)

Re the Fat Alberts, I've been running a pair this year on Flows and they seem very sensitive to pressure, any less than 20psi and they seem to squirm in the corners even though they look like they should be fine. Seem good if kept at the right pressure though....

I've found that the ETRTO figure is a pretty good guide on width (but not height). The HD is listed as 60-559, so 60mm wide and 26" diameter. The Rubber Queen ETRTO number is 59-559 so 1mm less than the HD which ties in with brokensoul's comment.

Shows that Maxxis numbers are ridiculous. The 2.35 Minion which comes up pretty narrow is 55-559, so 4mm narrower than the RQ 2.2

FW - I have front the HD combo, I haven't ridden them much but they appear to be very good allround in the Mendips (when it was last dry). Didn't appear significantly slower than the Crossmarks I had on the rear. Haven't tubelessed them yet.

Ah, my existing tyre is 54 and doesn't have masses of clearance to play with.
