Handlebar extension - useful?

I need some more bar space on my bike as my Garmin interferes with my lifeline pavo light when they're both on. Can't move the light out anymore as it hits bar tape. I've seen some cheap handlebar extenders like the link below. Does anyone have any first world experience? The new bit of bar seems to be 22mm diameter which is considerably narrower than 25.4-31.8mm which the light mount seems to be able to accommodate with or without adaptors. Bodgeable with electrical tape/coke cans or too much difference?

Thanks

Just get a different Garmin mount, either an out front or a stem/topcap mount would have minimal interference with a light

I've tried out front and top cap mounts - with out front the garmin sits in front of the light and blocks it, and the body of the garmin gets in the way of the light when it sits on the top cap (80mm stem).

You can get GoPro mount adapters foe Lifeline lights; I'd go for an outfront mount and hang the light underneath via the gopro adapter. I use some cheap ZTTO out-fronts on the roadbikes that attach via the stem faceplate bolts and a bar mounted out front on the MTB.

And this is not ZTTO branded; but looks identical to what I've got. Much cheaper on Aliexpress if you are happy to wait a week or two

I use one of these to mount my Exposure light - without it my cables/hoses obscured the light output due to placement of the cable guides on the sides of the headtube making the cables higher up that usual: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/175445324717. Extended bar section is 22.2mm - I bodged using rubber padding from various old bike lights. Too much diameter difference to build it up with leccy tape only. Holds my light solidly for MTBing with zero wobble:
