Hi guys very new to mountain biking had my first ride of road last week at the wales bike park, run a few blues and a red track and absolutely loved it just wish I had tried it years ago instead of now at 52. I have a large spesalized camber elite 2011 and wanting to put some wider bars on it,can you recommend a wider bar and also will I have to change the stem? Thanks very much for any info. Bars I have now are 680
I'd imagine you'd struggle to buy a bad handlebar from one of the major online retailers, so just pick the one you like the look of/fits your price range. You'll want to consider the rise of the handlebar, perhaps going for something similar to what you have if your otherwise happy with the bike. I'd go for something towards the wide end of the spectrum, 780-800mm. That way you can do a few rides with various grip positions and work out what feels the best for you. Good luck!
Pop in to your local bike shop, thats the best place to get sorted, you can't beat face to face shopping. no point buying online when you don't know what you want to be honest. If its wrong you can swap it. We lend bars to folk if they're not sure before they buy.
Hi buddy welcome to fold 😀
First if it's just bars I'm about to try these http://www.on-one.co.uk/i/q/HBOOKNUCK/on-one-knuckleball-handlebar
I've ridden the alloy versions and there ok so just orderd some. Myself.
Stem wise if it's an over size one ie31.8 no, if it's old one 25.4 then yes, in which case I'd look to my be shorten it a bit if it's 100mm plus in length, you'll get better control my be look to knock 20mm off.
Hi frosty,
A Rethal Fatbar is £50ish and seems a popular choice.
I've got a set of the Knuckleballs in 777mm. They are spot on.
Thanks very much for info guys. Big help
Hmmmm the wider bars approach, you will enjoy and your ride will become much better and the confidence will go through the roof,I have a pair of 777's,only Robles is I will never be able to go back to anything smaller........enjoy my friend.
