Anybody entering this year? Hoping to enter some enduro's this year and wondering if this would be suitable for a first race?
Will the race stages be sections of the red loop?
Are you wearing a full face helmet or just xc?
Possibly if up that way. I think they might use newly made stages as opposed to sections of the red loop like in their "trail bike DH" race. It also looks like you start the stages when you want as transfers are not timed, normally you get a set time to start.
Where which ever helmet you feel comfortable in just remember you have to wear it all the time so you might get toasty on the transitions if using a full face or some people table both and strap the one they are not wearing to their camelbak
Rode one of the gravity enduro races there last year, the stages were mainly based round sections of the black and red loops with one downhill run being used also.
Ride with whichever helmet you feel most comfortable wearing, depending on race rules you'll probably find people wear both types.
Should be a good race, Hamsterley is a cool place with some great sections of trail
i'm doing it - not raced for a while but looking forward to it. nothing should be too crazy, some of the off piste stuff is pretty loose but you'll get practice to check it out first. if you're happy with all of the black you should be fine. here's their guidance for difficulty level - 5 is full on DH track standard
Course rating (1-5 with 5 being very technical): Rating 3.5.
Each special stage is natural terrain including roots and rocks. There are no jumps or drops that can not be rolled
Im racing this and all of the other enduro they are running this year, my first race is the 16th of this month and is the NDH mini DH also at hamsterly, they appear to use some of the trails and then some off piste stuff too, realy looking forward to it
I did it a couple of years ago (with an xc lid, very few had full face), was a great laugh, if not very successful. I came Stone. Dead. Last. Including the juniors. And the girls.
Was my first, any only, race. I'm not really a racer type.
Some really good trails though, mix of natural and more manicured trails, bit like going for a bike ride really....
Great, think I'll get myself booked onto it then. Do the distances of the stages vary, or are they all roughly 4-8mins depending on skill/fitness?
Not been to Hamsterley before, so will head up there in the next couple of weeks for a lap of the red/black.
Tomhoward - I may well be in the same boat as you! Its just the fitness and technical ability holding me back 🙂
Stages were all around 3 - 4 minutes I believe but they may mix it up a bit if there's only 3 stages at this one so some may be a bit longer, there's certainly the scope to do so there
Just purchased my ticket 🙂
Did anybody do the TT there at the weekend? Just seen the youtube video, with a mention at the end that the TT run will be one of the stages. How was it?
I'm in!!
Really looking forward to it, my first Gravity Enduro race and only my second race ever...
Going to try to get up to Hamsterley beforehand so at least some of it looks familiar.
With my Bell Super Helmet and goggles I'm sure that I will be the very definition of all the gear and no idea 😳
