Halo sealant - any good?

Apologies in advance for another sealant thread but the search function has failed me..

Ive seen some positive feedback regarding Halo Fibre-Tech sealant, in particular its longevity and wondered if it was any good before investing in some.

I’m running road and gravel tyres and I’ve not been impressed with Stan’s performance at higher pressures or it’s ability to seal tyres with porous sidewalls  (although the ability of the sealant to stay liquid over a long time is very good). I’ve also tried some Challenge Smart Seal which is good but has difficulty sealing small cuts properly in road tyres and they constantly weep. I’ve tried some Silca Ultimate which is OK at sealing but only lasts a month and creates a horrible latex layer over everything meaning a top up ends up sloshing around beneath a layer of latex on the rim and no where near the tyre so effectively useless. I also spend ages peeling the alien snot off the inside of a Vittoria Corsa pro and it clearly peeled a layer of rubber off the inside at the same time and subsequently the tyre had blisters all over the surface when re inflated as air was escaping beneath the tread. It’s the worst sealant I’ve used and I’m binning my stock which is irritating given the cost of it and the cost of the tyres it’s ruined. I’m beginning to think Silca are a bit like MucOff, good at marketing shite products…

Currently I’m trying some Orange Endurance and I came across reviews of the Halo which said it was up there with the best. Anyone tried it?

It's an Oko tyre sealant rebranded, though I don't know which one. I bought the 5l bottle of the Halo stuff and it's been good at sealing most things. No better or worse than other brands I've tried. It can also be rejuvenated with a bit of water so you don't have to use more when it starts to dry out (though you have to do this before it's actually dry).

Ah an OKO product, I like the idea of a sealant without ammonia that can be rejuvenated. I need it to seal tyres with porous sidewalls too which it claims to do. The Orange has apparently sealed some very porous Rene Herse tyres according to one review I read and has been recommended by others but I’m not keen on the ammonia/natural latex as if it does become dry then its basically time to bin the tyre if it deposits latex anything like the Silca rubbish. It’s very hard to hear sealant sloshing about in the small quantities put into a road tyre and unseating it to check is a right faff, even for me and I wax chains… The Silca stuff has mostly solidified in any case despite me still being able to hear it if I took the wheels off and went somewhere quiet!

I've found the Continental Revo sealant yo be very good on both MTB and gravel tyres.

Even better I got a box of bottles that were slightly past the best before date off eBay. 2ltrs for £15 😁 still works perfectly.

To check sealant level on my road bike tyres I remove the valve insert and use one of the red aerosol guide pipe things you get with GT85 as a dipstick.

I'm also using the new MK2 Silca Sealant which seems to work quite well, had one puncture so far mid ride and didn't notice it until I got home a noticed a few spots on the seat tube.

Yeah that’s a good idea and the Orange comes with a dipstick. I’ve got Reserve Fillmore valves so no valve insert to remove annoyingly. There’s always something…🙄

It's the same as Oko Hi Fibre, very good stuff. Longevity is as long as you keep adding water to it as it's water based and water soluble. BUT and it's a big but this only works as long as it stays wet, it doesn't work if you let it dry up. I've not used it for road or gravel but for everything else I'd say it's at least as good as stans. And also, dirt cheap.

The only downside is that it's not compatible with stans, you can use it in a tyre that's had stans in but you're not supposed to mix. And basically every bike shop has stans, not everyone sells oko/halo, so you could get caught out.
