Do Halfords REALLY price match ? - they say they do... so with SLX brakes being advertised at ( approx ) £48 at Evans , then that could save a fair bit compared to their advertised price .
Anyone been sucessful in the past , or have they got some small print ?

like with all retailers, has to be same model, plus available and usually within a certain distance and a physical shop rather than say CRC/Ebay

well, their own terms say they will do

Terms & Conditions
The competitor's item must be identical (colour, size etc)
The competitor's item must be in stock at the time of match
The competitor's price must include delivery
The competitors price must be publically advertised online and cannot include any membership/personal discounts
We cannot match bulk promotional offers such as buy one get one free
The competitor must be based in the UK and sell direct to customers (no auction or marketplace retailers)
No other promotional offers or vouchers can be used on top of a price match
We will match within 7 days of receipt of purchase
We will match in store if our online price is lower than our store price
We will not match against clearance, closing down sales or specialist retailers such as market stalls.

That's how it reads to me too cp .
I've got a Halfords store about 1/4 mile from work so this could be dead handy if they stick to what they say .

I've had a web price matched and then I paid for it with Halfords vouchers (bought at 10% off :)). They wouldn't allow BC discount on top though.

Sounds well worth asking then - thanks

You can get pairs of SLX brakes from German retailers for under £80. You might need to swap the levers though.

I think I used Bike24 for the pair I bought a while back.

Just price match through Evans. They will match all the usual online suspects (CRC, Wiggle, Merlin etc) and will even match after you've applied a discount code. When I ordered through their PM they were also giving double value on Tesco Clubcard points so well worth doing.

I got a Thomson dropper + Deore brake set and couldn't get them cheaper anywhere else. No worries about unadvertised OEM either. 😉

I had a faff trying to get Halfords to price match their own prices. Can't remember what it was but the item was about a tenner cheaper on the website. I went to the till and they rang it through. I pointed out it was cheaper on their website. They had no facility to sell it to me for that price unless I ordered it for store collection. So I had to stand next to the till and use my phone to reserve the item on the website and only then could they sell me it for that price. Bonkers.

I did the same as BoardinBob

Presumable the price match has to be done through the website?

If it's store collection next day rather than 1 hour it's being shipped to store rather than on hand.

I've had this happen as well, except the bloke at the till did it for me, on his till terminal. Ridiculous.

Also, don't bank on next day to store actually happening. IME if it doesn't turn up it'll only show as 'with the courier' and you'll have a hell of a job getting them to chase it up for you. Technically I'm still waiting on a BB to be delivered to store from five weeks or so ago. Needless to say nothing happened after I stopped chasing it u with them.

We have only just had ability to price match Halfords.com through the till. Just ask the till assistant and they should sort it out if it matches the T&C's.

I've priced matched in Halfords plenty of times. Depends on staff member so easiest way I have found is see if its in store, then call there customer service number.

Tell their call centre where online its cheaper, they will price match, then tell them what store you want to collect it from and they have it in store because you have just seen it. EVERY time I have done it they have immediately called that store who take a note of the price match price and 5 mins later I walk in and buy it in store!!

Bike bits, kids car seats, camping bits, lots really, just easier to get them locally than internet order (for the same price!!)
