I notice Halfords have a couple of their lights with a good lump of money off, has anyone used or owned these or any thoughts? I need a couple of new lights...

Not used them in anger but have seen one of the L450's pass through the shop. It was well built, very bright and the QR on the helmet mount was good.

I don't do much (any) offroad at night - do people that do think that 450 lumen plus a 120 on the bars would be enough for non racing night missions?

My offroading in the dark days are done LOL (other than in my car) I just want something decent for dark parks etc so I can see at least something.

I have one of each and love them, The 230 is more than bright enough for road use, but the 450 is brighter. the 230 is a warmer colour whereas the 450 is whiter/blue-er.

With either light the beam is focussed into a letterbox with very little spill outside which makes them great for road as you can aim them for the horizon and there is less blinding of oncoming drivers. Of course during the day you can point them up for more visibility.

I run one on the bars and one on the helmet

Build quality of the clamps and such is spot on as the original rrp was quite high.

I guess the focused beam means the 450 is not great for off road then?

the 450 wiould do a good job on a helmet but might be too rectangular for the bars
