Got a Bizango thru cycle to work scheme and just got a reminder for it's free 6 week service. Does anyone know what they actually do and is it worth it?
The front mech and gear cables were so badly set up when I first got the bike I had to learn how to sort it and fix it myself to get it shifting smoothly so I have my reservations about handing it over again!
It's just a general check of brake and gear setup really. If you're relatively happy with the way it's running at the mo and are able to wind a barrel adjuster yourself there's nothing to be gained by taking it in.
The only thing you have to be careful of (and I had the same thing, Bizango on C2W scheme) is if you have the one year bike care plan for free (I did with my work) then they can be funny with doing work on that scheme if you haven't had the check-up - warranty issues or something.
And the 6 week check can be taken up to 3 months so drag it out just incase something breaks!!
Only benefit is that they can try and wriggle out of warranty work further down the line if it 'could' have been spotted and rectified in the 6 week check.
I wonder if I can take it in for a check but ask them not to touch anything without asking!!
I'd only take it if it's a warranty requirement, and even then get it properly checked afterwards or DIY.
