I've just been told that Haldon is "shut" because of landslides - anyone know where these are? I was riding there today & it was pretty grim but didn't see anything too devastating.

there was that load that'd slipped on the bit of the red over towards the belvedere we found on wednesday? i imagine a bit more may have come down there.

Oh yeah - I forgot about that, it was a pleasant surprise... Putting forks in for a full service & have ordered some Orange F8 to play with over winter if the weather stays like this.

I Rang you in the pub - ends 84 - so if the time was 2:30 ish you have my number as it were.

hmm. no, not your call - that never came through, but i imagine you were struggling for signal there.
drop me a txt when you have a minute and i'll bounce it back.
some random number rang as i was marshalling two hounds home through the pi55ing rain, i was getting increasingly wet, and the phone was breaking in to the music i was using to take my mind off the wet. i'm sure if it was important they'll try again. 😀

Yep - that's the line of stones I hit on Wed night. I didn't quite see the trail closed sign & blatted on down the trail. Gave me quite the adrenaline injection.

Is the whole thing closed now then..? Or just the red..? or is it just the top section still..?
That first top descent was closed early Wednesday evening, so I went down the fire road and rode the rest.. it was a bit washed out in a couple of places, which was rather nice..
I guess there's been more than enough weather to cause more disturbances though..

I spotted a few hardy souls out on Wednesday late afternoon/early evening.. was that any of you folk..?
blummin wet wasn't it..! 😆

I'm out for a wee pootle tomorrow morning, just to have a gawp at the flood damage in the Bovey Valley and up through the woods at Lustleigh.. I reckon there will have been some land slippage up there too.. there's a couple of spots up there that looked perilous even without all this recent weather

I just checked FB and it doesn't mention it

From the FB page (yesterday):

Please Note that the SKILLS AREA is closed today between 10 am - 3 pm for maintenance work thanks to Bicton College. Also, the Red Run is back up and running apart from the first downhill section with the landslide. There is still a diversion in place for this section. The Black is also now open again.

nothing since then, but basically all open except the first little downhill bit

was anyone up there last night/early this morning..?

It was -2 here at Bovey last night around 9pm, so I'm wondering if all the standing water that was at Haldon last week has drained or frozen into an ice rink..?

I want to get a few laps in later but if it's that temp again it's gonna be miserable with wet feet
