Had three poor weeks racing and a DNF last week due to a puncture.
Anyway I'm trying to get the edge back and I'm racing again in two days.
So today I took a short 40 mile route with a good mix of hills and flats with the intention of giving it the berries.
I was only working with a HR monitor. But I had some strange results, I took the climbs harder than ever but I couldn't get get my HR any higher than the 160s which at first seems good, but my recovery was dreadful?
Any idea why why my HR would be lower than before on the climbs whilst my speed was higher and my recovery slower?
OVertraining can have that effect
2nd that.Get lazy to get fit!!!
Underlying illness like a cold?
sounds liek your ill ... stop before you end up like me ....
ignored the signs last week - ie chundering at the top of the first climb of the day that i do at least once a month - continuing round for the 300k and then finding my self fighting a chest infection this weekend - bedridden ....
but on the plus side i have a weeks holiday and a weeks business travel to get over it !
