Heading down the lakes early next week and plan to take my road bike. Anyhoo snapped my chain on a climb yesterday and had to shorten It by a couple of links. Chain seems fine but obviously I cant get 50t x 30t gear anymore. Anyhoo Im ordering a new chain , cassette and wheels on Payday (Friday)which will arrive while Im away. Will I be ok for a few rides on my holidays with the fixed shorter chain.? I've bought a 10 speed quicklink to stick in my pocket to get me out of jail.

A long as you are really carful in the big ring, to stay well away from the 2 largest rear sprockets, you'll be fine.

I'd change it fairly soon. It'll snap when you'd least want it to. 🙁

Yup thats what I fear , As I said wont have time to change It before I head off but It will get swapped next week when I get back. Was hoping to do Hardknott and Wrynose next week but with a dodgy chain Its maybe not the best plan.
