Anyone got any suggestions for a decent GXP bottom bracket? Just had a Uberbike one seize on the NDS (is this) after a bit of a wet ride the other week. Good job I checked tonight as I'm riding tomorrow (and luckily have a spare SRAM one...)
Any experiences of Hope ones (I know they're good on Shimano chain sets)? Am sure I've read people have had issues with chainlines...
Suggestion welcome (even if it's 'Stop being a clumsy oaf with the hose/slightly damp patches on the trails...)
Cheers,
Rich
I have had a Hope with adaptor which worked well but the praxis one i have has been flawless and was very well priced around £30.
I gave up and moved back to Shimano.
Laaast ages and half the price.
Standard GXP Team. No issues with them myself. Maybe need doing every other year, but it's £20 a pop and quick job.
I do wonder what people do to them to wreck them so much, including whether they're fitted right in the first place.
I've had a hope one in my fatty for almost 3 years of muddy swinley riding.
The fattys a bit different as the SRAM axles are over length so the DS bearing tends to get worked out and the hope one has bearing shields rather than top hats which go some way to holding it in. Some SRAM ones have a circlip, why they don't all have it I've no idea.
Got a gusset one in my other bike which has been fine but only done 650miles so far (but does live outside in the rain).
I must be a clumsy oaf - I learnt (following a muddy ride around Swinley....) to be a bit more careful with the hose... Maybe Uberbike not that Uber...
Now - to decipher how many spacers I need (or not). 73mm shell - I'm going with none...
Cheers everyone.

Bog standard SRAM GXP BB is still going just fine into its second Scottish winter, just popped the seals and whacked some more grease. Perhaps once they were pants but Ive never had an issue.
Hope . 4 years now across a few frames and still going strong.
I just got a Wheels Manufacturing one.
Nicely made & no stupid top hat bushing to work it's way out.

When I last used the SRAM one I packed it out with belray marine grease and it lasted well.
I've swapped bikes more often than hope bb's on gxp.
Lol. C-bear - thought you were being offensive. 😉
Will check out the options - for now the SRAM one is in, and I've packed it out with grease.
I've forgotten to put in the sleeve. Will pop it in later as I'm guessing it won't make much of a difference (for one ride anyway)
Cheers,
Rich
