Hi. I have a On One Freeranger with SRAM Force Cranks GXP 24mm non drive/22mm drive side.BSA threaded BB shell . I have so far killed a token BB and rinsed a SRAM one in months. For context I have a shimano XT bb on an other bike that’s lasted 1800 miles. I only hand wash my bikes and rinse off with a hose. So two questions
- I bought a Hope BB and a GXP conversion kit when installed the cranks bind so don’t spin even with no spacers in. Any idea how to sort that issue
- does anyone know of a GXP BB that won’t die very quickly
wondering if the Yorkshire dales isn’t the best environment for GXP

Is it on a gravel bike? Do you ride in wet conditions? I’m assuming mine is mainly ingress from riding.
Years ago I killed a gxp bb within a couple of months. I replaced it with a Hope that lasted the life of the bike. I recently reused the crankset on another bike but with a SRAM bb and it died within 400km (I get 2000km out of XT ones for context). I wanted shorter cranks anyway so they've been replaced with 165mm SLX ones.
Feel your pain,choosing the right Hope bottom bracket is a pain.I also got fed up with killing GXP bearings and bought a Hope for my Free Ranger.If its binding you probably have an MTB version with thick spacers which cause everything to bind.The correct BB comes with thin 1mm ? spacers of which I only need one on my bike.SJS sell the correct spacers which will correct the problem,once installed the bearings last for thousands of miles which is probably down to the extra seal Hope put in the shells.
As mentioned above, it sounds like maybe you bought the MTB version of the Hope BB which has larger spacers. You can check against Hope's compatibility chart - I think you are probably the first line in the table so just need a couple of 1mm spacers (BBSP105) on each side.
Original SRAM GXP BB bearings were designed to be serviceable which I guess is a double-edged sword - the seal is probably inherently less tight to make it easier to remove, making it easier to wash out the grease too.

GXP utter crapola in my experience. I’ve tried a bunch of different brands, and have come the conclusion that in Scotland at least, GXP BBs have a lifetime between a couple of months to max 12 months, no matter what I do and how much I spend. So I buy whatever is cheapest, and keep a spare handy at all times.
