Been using a gx but it cracked catastrophically after an off.. a bit worried about the build quality so wondering if i should go to an x7? both on crc about the same price. These are my only options due to rear mech and cost.

I can't answer your question, but do you want to flog me the clamp bit off your broken GX shifter (assuming it wasn't mounted to your brake)?
