Just quick check what I should get in the box with 2017 model of Guide RSC brakes. Proper box so don't think they're OEM.
Basically have the brake, bag of olive, barb, screws and connector thingies, and a standalone mount. About it.
Wouldn't normally come with bleed kit I assume, but no bleeding edge adapter?
Also, 2017 model is definitely the newer S4 calliper? (trickle down from the Ultimate as I understood it, came in 2016).
The bleeding edge adapter is part of the bleed kit, so won't be included with the brake.
Interested to know if they have a rubber bung in the bleed port? SRAM pictures/videos suggest they do, but mine didn't come with any.
Yeah, thought it might not be supplied. Just wondered in case it lets you use an existing bleed kit.
Don't know on the bung. I'm not keen on undoing the port just to check. Don't want to risk having to bleed it, as don't have the adapter.
Also, vague hope the rear will just fit size wise but I'm assuming I'll have to cut it, and not keen on that given my recent experiences of messing up shortening and bleeding (ending up blowing seals in the levers), though older brakes. I used to be able to do it but have screwed up recently.
If I shorten the hose, that means using up the spare olive and barb also? and probably bleed.
They do come with bungs, which stay in for about 5 mins. So consider yours pre-lost Samwilk200...
@DK you can normally reuse the barb thats in there (its threaded with a T10 fitting), and probably get away with no bleed if you're careful about taking it apart and screwing it back together again (Keep everything that can leak oil pointing upwards, dont pull the lever etc.).
Thanks Ben!
@samwilk200 - Ah, I see what you mean now. I'd not seen the new design before. It's just simple a bung in the hole on the calliper. A dust cap basically as I understand the bleeding edge adapter actually opens the thing up. Yeah, I can see that being lost fast. Mud should replace it 😀
The lever port is the normal type though it seems.
In the end, shortened fine this time round.
Interesting the olive fitted is different and the barb has no tool fitting to remove it, just a round hole on the end. The olive and barb supplied in the pack is the new stealth-a-majig type.
Supplied with a T-8 only tool for the new barb, but oddly no T-25/T-10 like it used to despite the box coming with a bracket with a T-25 screw in it and lever bleed screw is still a T-10.
Got tonnes of the things from past kits anyway and plenty other tools.
